Taitung Digital Opportunity Center (Taitung DOC) at National Taitung University (NTTU) funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Taiwan, is dedicated to promote the IT learning, community empowerment and local industry promotion and marketing for the betterment of local communities in need.
Taitung County is located at the south-eastern part of Taiwan. It is the third biggest County in Taiwan but only live with 1% of Taiwan total population. It is facing the Pacific Ocean and has the most beautiful nature scenery in Taiwan. 1/3 of 230,000 people in Taitung County are aboriginal people that live in remote aboriginal communities. The other 1/3 of people lives in remote area community. Taitung has the most serious digital dividend problem in Taiwan Taitung DOC at NTTU is focusing on the efforts to give the people in Taitung, especially children and young, have the opportunity to learn information technologies (IT) and network skill to reduce the digital dividend problem. Taitung DOC at NTTU also to help people in community to promote their local industry and help them to join the internet marketing mechanism for better income.
This program aims to provide the minority in Taitung remote areas with the opportunity of international outlook by learning English and contact with foreigner people. We invite any foreigner who is willing to support children and young English learning in Taitung aboriginal tribes and remote communities to join the program. We also need your participation and help to do international outreach for Taitung, the Hometown of Nature and the Place for Sunrise in Taiwan. Volunteer work in Taitung DOC at NTTU give you a rewarding travel and volunteering experience that feed your soul by knowing the local cultures and different ways of life across Taitung while helping to volunteer with the local communities. We aim to support the work of local community through the placement of international volunteer. We provide unique opportunities for safe and memorable volunteering and travel experiences in all over the Taitung combined with enriching and rewarding voluntary work. Our summer volunteer opportunity gives you opportunities to have in-country travel and have the real feel of a new culture by having a home stay with local families.
